Retail Or Institutional Pension Adviser?

Hi,
I'm due to retire soon, with money purchase pensions. So I have pension funds which I am most likely going to go down the Income Drawdown route.

I've been told of two types of Financial Advisers:

-retail. Where the advisers use some other financial investment company to manage the money. So there would be two basic charges eg the advisers 1% and the investment company 0.5%

-institutional. Where the advisers are themselves the investors. Thus the charges could be less.

Is this a correct summary?

Where would I best go to make a decision on who manages my money for what could be 30 years!

Thanks

    No.

Either an independent or a restricted (but whole of market adviser). The type of avoid is restricted (single tied) or restricted (limited panel).

For reference, retail refers to the normal consumer market. Institutional refers to corporate investing (such as occupational pension schemes). Although some investments have used their institutional funds recently for the retail market.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
