Thursday 12 February - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Morning All
Ziggy -I can't believe it's been a year. I'm sure it must bring up mixed feelings for you today. Have a wonderful time with your mum.
FatVonD - your son's driving instructor sounds like a !!!!!!. Sorry to say. At the end of the day people don't need 2 hour lessons constantly. 1 is fine. But I remember feeling like I'd be doing lessons forever. And then it's just done and forgotten about once you pass. How close is your son to passing do you think?
Morning Jo Jo & Milliemummy
Well today I await the First Utility bill. I've been awaiting it for a week now! Seems silly they can't tell you as soon as you give your readings but apparently not. I really want to know how we've done. I haven't touched the dryer for a month. That must help surely.
Food from stores today but I do need some more deodorant, but shall be buying the 40p basics one from sains. That is one thing I've noticed about the budget shops. They don't do small cheap washing powder or things like cheap roll on. I suppose because everything they do is cheap they don't have the capacity or something.
Have already been round taking the washing that's dried overnight off the rads before I put another load on.
oh and I also had the small win of getting BT to move our payment due date which really helps. So that will keep us to our budget this month.
Started on American Horror on Netflix last night. So good...nice to have other options when UK TV is a bit slow." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hi BB nice to see you back
Twiggy -how much of a pay out did you get from shoptize? I'm intrigued.
Well the First Utility thing is weird. I saw they'd loaded my bill so I went on all excited. Now last month we spent £76 and that was with everyone home over Xmas. This month having literally not used our dryer at all and made no other big changes it said £102. Which seems very high. So I rang them and they said the bill had been withdrawn. But they haven't offered a new amount. I find that all a bit strange. I gave my readings so how could the bill be anything other than correct? Can't wait till it warms up and I can do without the heating. Am sure everyone feels the same.

Hi Thursday Savers,
Thanks Ziggy, yes, I'm feeling a lot better today (so far) I tried everything to shift that headache yesterday.....codiene, tiger balm, cold flannel, hot water bottle, lavender oil, drinking water, keeping my blood sugar really stable. Nothing worked! Absolutely nothing, then at about tea time, it just disappeared. mr f phoned & said to get myself on the sofa under my snuggly rug with cat & to watch a film, so maybe it was that which did the trick! Can't believe it's a year since your heart 'do'. Seems like a couple of months ago.
OK, today's small efforts to hang onto me pence:
*Saved a bit of energy by running heated airer overnight, sharing bath water, turning towel radiator & de-humidifyer off for a few hours & not putting downstairs heating on till at least 5pm. Meter readings higher than I'd have liked last week, so want a reduction this week.
*Did next week's meal plans, prioritising meals in freezer so as to make room in the budget for cooking a nice meal for Valentine's Night.
*Wrote shopping list.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*De-cluttered today's 12 items (still plenty more to go, already found 2 of the 13 items I have to de-clutter tomorrow!)
*Did a few surveys.
*The new scoop I made for measuring cat's biscuits is a great success....for us, anyway. I think he was definitely getting too many biscuits. He is not impressed with the daily biscuit reduction & has just pounced crossly on a binbag to register the crapness of his life.
OK, must go & chop a bit of veg now. mr f is at a potentially horrible (job-cuts) meeting this afternoon, & will need cheering up.

Good Afternoon!
Just a brief visit to see how you all are. Feeling like death, again, so spending as much time doing nothing as I can (any excuse!). Think I've hit peak bleurghness now, so it can only get better from here.
