They sent the application back! The guy who signed my likeliness of the drivers licence did not put the tilte of his profession on the paper (not that the form asks specificsally for him to do this!?). It was sent back first class last week but im doubtful as to wether I will make that deadline.
I guess the account wont be officially open until the cheque is cleared?0 -
The date of the cheque clearance wouldn't normally matter. The account would be opened on the day they opened it - a few days before the cheque clears.
But it's unclear what will happen if they've rejected your identity stuff.
Most institutions will open the account immediately (and cash the cheque) but then ask you to sort the ID stuff out.0 -

I have to disagree with you here Mark. Certainly for the place I work for no ID means no account.
Just think you have a cheque fraudently obtained which they present to open the account - you don't go back with the ID - so what will the financial institution do with your money - yes send it back to you by cheque so a fraudelent cheque is now a clean cheque!0 -
Funnily enough I had already thought of the money laundering implications of that. But it's certainly the way some institutions seem to do it - daft.
I don't think it's the fraud issue you suggest. If they allow - say - 30 days to produce the ID, most fraudulent cheques will have been identified as such before then.0 -
Looks like ive got lucky on this one...despite the cheque actually finally clearing on the 29th, my paying-in book and letter says it was actually openend on 24th Aug - yay!0
