Thank you kittycat1981, your kindness is very much appreciated.
Feeling a bit better today. Long walk with the dogs helped clear my head a bit. Still not sure if I am approaching things in the right way but will do my best.
It is highly likely I will face a drop in my income later in the year so the more I can get straight now, the better.
Thanks again, you helped a lot.12 Feb 2015

I have had a very difficult day
so it was great to hear you have had a better day - the long walk with the dogs sounds lovely = I hope it was dry where you were walking
I am unsure if you are tackling things the right way or not - I think we all do things in the way that is best for us - we do what we can cope with at the time we do it - so just keep plodding on and make one descision at a time - try not to through yourself at everything at once - I find that totally overwhemes me

Really happy to be debt free after being a compulsive spender0 -
Hey.
Based on apr it looks as if you are targeting your debts in the right order. You can also fill in a snowball calculator that will work this out for you (just Google it)
Don't feel down. Retrospect is a wonderful thing. You are now working on fixing mistakes made and that is even better - you should feel really proud.
If you are serious about getting your finances in order consider YNAB. It is insanely addictive to try to budget / spend as little as possible if you have that.0 -
One thing I would say is, while dating, don't pretend (by actions or otherwise) that you have lots of money to spend as you don't really - at least not for now.
With my ex I got into lots of troubles because he was controlling etc but also because I tried to keep up with him which I couldn't0 -
Hey cross fit,
Don't get down, you are in quite a good position, You earn lots, you have plenty left over for debt reduction and if you needed to you still have lots of things that you could cut out.
I dont profess to be an expert but with some effort and adjustment i think you could easily end up paying £1000 per month of your credit cards particularly when your £500 to a friend ends. Thats under three years to clear every penny you owe. Also its a virtuous circle, the more you pay off the more you have available to pay off your debts. You can definitely get on top of this and then you will have a very comfortable lifestyle.
I thought one of your posts was very telling. You clearly (like me) have no real idea where all of your money is going, how much you have to spend or what you are going to do if you overspend (you currently like me shove it on the card!) I am using the free trial of Ynab at the mo its a brilliant way of doing your budget and realising that overspending here requires an underspend there. You may want to give it a go. It has completely changed my view on my money in just a few days.
Chin up, you can really sort this.
