Is it available in NI ?
If your BT connection is slow what makes you think going to another provider will help things ?
You wont get faster than 8meg in NI on a BT line at the min . If you want faster , cable is the way .0 -
I agree with darwin the most you'll get on an ADSL line is 8MB, cable customers have recently been upgraded in Belfast and surrounding areas.
I'm now on the 20MB service but to be honest I would settle for 2 up and 2 down but they never seem to think like that!!0 -

Just because you pay for an 8 meg connection does not mean that is what you will get. There is a small thing called "contention" which means that up to 50 people are potentially "sharing" the 8 meg link. If all are using the capacity at the same time then your connection rate will be much slower.
A change of supplier to someone who has fewer subscribers using their capacity should result in a better service........maybe?Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
Go BT business broadband , lower ratio 20:1 , aimed at business so at weekends/evenings you should fairly fast speeds.0

Yes, ADSL24 are available here in NI. I phoned them today for some info and the chap confirmed that they have many customers here.
I am also thinking about migrating to them.0 -

BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service: For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps. For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps. For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps. For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps.
Check your line here http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ and when in gives your line speed it will also give the above info.:eek:Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
I am with ADSL24 having migrated from Wanadoo/orange, in may. Great service and no probs touch wood. Customer service is excellent and questions are answered by people that understand english as a first language. would recommend. Oh and cheaper than Orange.0
