can I force a sale?

Looking for a bit of advice. I bought a house with my ex partner in 2007 when we were expecting a baby. We subsequently split nd he made me and child leave the house . He has lived there and paid mortgage since. I want off mortgage to buy my own property but he cannot grt mortgage in his own name. Can I force a sale and if not will I be entitled to half of sale proceeds if and when it does sell? He has no inters t in selling as ne has charges on property in his sole name. I see it as unfair that I have to hold on til he has enough equity to cover the charges. Also he paid 35k deposit but I paid mortgage for many months. Tia
