Removing Second Charge on property

Options
Hi - I will be paying off a loan secured against my property and wondered if I needed to instruct a solicitor to remove the second charge.

Does anyone know???

Thanks in advance.

Sorry New York, I'm not sure, maybe National debtline can help on this. I know you can check what charges are on your property on the land registry website for £3.

Perhaps they have a FAQ on the land registry site ?

  • On a previous property when we had a second charge, about one month after receipt of the final payment the lender confirmed to us in writing that they had removed their charge on the property. We did not need to instruct a solicitor. We just assumed this was how it was done and didn't know to question anything different. We had no problems when we sold the house regarding a second charge on the property so I guess it was removed.
