My boyfriend and I want to get a mortgage but i am already on a mortgage with my ex.
My ex has refused to take me off the mortgage as he wont be able to afford it on his salary.

Yes, you can.
Be careful. Speak to a broker to ensure you;-
avoid lenders allowing only one residential mortgage
find a lender who takes the current mortgage payment and treats it like a loan, so it doesn't impact affordability as much.
Even though you may not be paying it, you are still responsible for it and any lender is going to act as if it's 100% your commitment.I am a mortgage broker. As KS says -you want your name off that other mortgage quickly!
Your ex could default and leave your credit history stuffed.
If the Ex is reluctant to take your name off (or will be refused by the mortgage company) then you'll need legal advice I am afraid.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

Why is he living there and not you.
Being a discharged bankrupt won't help with a new mortgage
Someone else may know... should the BR have discharged you of the old mortgage if you included it in the BR and made the ex take over the equity/debt0 -
him and new girlfriend moved in while i was still living there - i had to move out.
I have signed everything over to him even the deeds etc. I have been in contact with the mortgage company and they say he has to request the form to be sent to him to take me off.
if someone knows - i would be greatful of the help.0 -

Post count 12 in 2.5years... always worth the background checks when low post counts.
Still have to declare them(BR) on the mortgage applications.0 -
I would suggest that you get some legal advice - him removing you from the mortgage should have been done simultaneously with you signing the house over to him.
As previously mentioned - if he decides to stop paying the mortgage or becomes unable to pay it then the company could come after you for the full debt (or any shortfall after a repossession & sale).0
