any hope for us?

Hello, im hoping someone can give me some advice. My husband and I have recently applied for a springboard mortgage with barclays, we have banked with them for over ten years. We were initially declined but then managed to pay off two of our larger debts (a loan with barclays and our car finance)and then given an agreement in principle for 125k. We have a joint income of 32k and a deposit of 6.5k. The advisor told us the credit check had been performed at this stage and everything should be fine as we had proof of income etc. However, i have just checked my experian report and found my score to be 813. I thought i had no missed payments as all my accounts for credit card, mobile phone, catalogue are upto date and although i have large credit amounts, my balances are only small as i rarely use them. I did find 4 recent late payments with virgin media which i hadnt realised were late. I pay my virgin online and they gave me an account limit of £120 which i never went over, i paid a small amount when the bill came in to keep the account ticking over as the bill date was 27th monthly and i dont get paid till last day of the month, so i would then pay a larger amount after pay day. I didnt realise this was going to be marked down as late payments but i accept this was my mistake and naivety. I rang our advisor at barclays who said it might be ignored as it is with virgin media rather than virgin money. He said he would check and ring back yesterday but now hes on holiday for two days and weve just found out our offer has been accepted so i wanted to know if anyone out there knew our chances. Is there any hope for this barclays mortgage going through or should i look for another lender who may accept us with higher interest or wait for 6 months. sorry for the long message but thank you in advance for any advice.

  • Thank you for replying. We have been advised by another mortgage advisor that Barclays will not accept late payments which were recent so he is looking at other lenders which will be more suitable. Thank you
