What is Advanced deduction

What is an advanced deductions. I was an agency worker till about a week ago, but on my last week of work on the Friday I was suppose to get paid I did not get paid. So I called up upset telling them that this is the second time this has happened to me so they promised to pay me and hours later they did pay me. So last Monday I turned up for work I was told that I've finished and got no notice at all. So I did not work for the week. On Saturday I got a pay slip and in the deduction sections I saw something called advanced deduction £81.25 which is what I normally earn in a week I don't pay any taxes at all and in the net pay its £0.00

I don't understand what this advanced deduction is I've never seen it before it says that pay date was 06/02/2015 and I did not work for that week.

This agency is dodgy do they own me some kind of money that they not giving me. Because I did try and call them to ask if they have any more work (stupid of me) and they hung up the phone twice on me so am suspicious of these evil people. And they pay me trough my bank account not cash. Can anyone explain in a way that I can understand what this means.

  • How many weeks have you worked and how many did you get paid for, before the last pay slip which was a deduction meaning you got a - payslip?

No how many weeks did you work and how many weeks pay have you had?

ie worked 12 weeks and got 11 weeks pay etc

Actually whats your tax code too as 6 hrs and 50 mins @ £6.50 is not £81.25 its £83.41
  • I would have thought that Advance Deduction is when you had asked for an advance in your wages, a payslip had been issued for PAYE purposes and it was being deducted from your normal salary payment.
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

yes this sounds likely. its possible that when you didn't get paid the previous week, they have processed a sub/advance and paid you that day, then deducted it in the most recent week.

Do you have to submit timesheets on a weekly basis? did you miss one? Like the other posters say, count the number of weeks you have worked, and match it up with payslips, then call them or go to them with this evidence to show that you are missing a week.
Getting paid into the bank is better than cash. Cash can disappear, you cant prove you have been given cash unless you sign for it, whereas your bank statements will show the payments and the dates received.

    " What is Advanced deduction"

The op made no mention of being short of money.
