morgage and dependants debt

Hi I have recently been in touch with a mortgage broker and when discussing affordability I stated that I had a dependant with some outstanding credit card debt, the mortgage broker told me I didn't have to disclose this debt as she is a dependant. I am worried that if I don't I am going to get into trouble, so thought I would ask on here to see what is right. If my dependant has outstanding credit card debt do I need to tell the mortgage company about it? If it helps I myself don't have any debt, but don't want to get something so important as a mortgage wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Suggest you change mortgage broker. If that's the manner in which they conduct business what care are they going to take in advising you.
