Hi all,
I am currently looking for a new job and have to update my CV. I think my current CV is good but its not getting enough replies when applying. As a result I have decided to use a CV Writing company to create a bespoke CV.
Do you have any recommendations?
I have come across a few but dont know which one to choose.
CVStore looks the best so far. Anyone used them or others before?

I am more of a CV creator. The advice I would give is to
- use thicker, cream coloured paper. You want yours to physically stand out from the rest of the pile
- name at the top, address, phone number and email underneath.
- don't use a fancy font. Times new roman or arial is fine at 12
- use bullet points instead of long paragraphs - use 5-6 bullet points per post. Keep each to a single sentence
- No more than 2 pages- somewhere between 1.5 and 2 is just right
Always, always, always check spelling! Even spellcheck fails to spot things sometimes
Sometimes, all you need is a fresh eye to look over it, but be careful in spending your hard earned cash on it!
Spend ten minutes or so tailoring each CZ you send to the post you are sending it for. In my opinion you can get all you need for free from the internet. For example I have used this site to update my CV in the past with success,

There are many other examples of good advice available too, but that one is my preference. I wouldn't personally waste your money getting someone else to do something that you can do yourself.0 -

I agree with the above. Just a point though, Arial is the best font to use. People who are dyslexic may struggle to read fonts like times new roman.0 -
Oh yes, thank you re arial font- apparently arial is the easiest font for dyslexics to read because of the squiggliness of some of the lower case letters.

I wouldn't pay for a CV writing service, some of them are useless. people have come to our agency after having one "professionally" written, and my 5 year old nephew could do a better job with alphabetty spaghetti.
Some provide a CV in a PDF format, which cant be changed. A bit useless when you need to tailor your CV for each individual job application depending on the requirements/criteria.
As the other posters have suggested (good advice queen of cheap!), keep it simple, clearly laid out with no massive rambling blocks of text.
Make sure your contact details are clear (and Correct! you wouldn't believe the number of applications we receive with wrong phone numbers on)
List your relevant qualifications.
List the key elements of your past jobs, elaborate on any ones that would specifically relate to the job for which you are applying.
Very rarely would we discount a CV simply because it was poorly laid out. We generally ignore personal statements and flick straight to the qualifications and recent work history. also, we don't know how old you are. Avoid the temptation to list every job you have ever had if it is going to take more than 2 A4 pages. If you are a more mature job seeker, I would tend to have bullet points on your most recent 10 years or so of work, or last few jobs (and any bits that are relevant), and then simply a statement 1989 - 1998 Various administration roles or similar.
