1 Late Payment

Hi,

Will 1 late payment settled with in 30 days in December 2013 have any significant impact on a New build HTB mortgage application? Gutted about it really is it was a case of cancelling a DD in error after thinking we had paid the complete balance.

Depends how is manifests itself on your credit file and which lender you use.

Have a broker massage this through for you.

Hi, I had the exact same thing. I am a FTB too.. looking at New Build but for Shared Ownership. Went to a broker, found a mortgage, did an application... got rejected due to bad credit. I was shocked. I've always been so careful with credit cards and money. Turns out, it was a case of cancelling a DD in error. May I ask who yours was with? Mine was Orange/EE. I did lots of research, spent hours on the phone and sent a very well written email to the executive office who rang me back and agreed to remove the mark as a goodwill gesture. Might be worth a go....

It's always worth a try - worked for me and lots of other. There are lots of templates for those sorts of letters online if you get stuck or need an idea of what to say. :)
