I've visited the site in the past, but never posted in the forum. I've always had trouble with debts and always try to fix things myself, but it seems to work in the shirt term but then I end up worse than before.

Current situation is we (myself and my husband) have a £15000 loan which my parents took out and we pay them the cash each month £280. We also have a credit card each, hubby's is at approx £2300 and mine is nearly £6000. The interest on these is starting to mount up so I have successfully applied for 2 0% balance transfer cards to help out! but hubby is struggling to get one for his currently.

We rent privately, hubby works full time, me part time and we have nursery fees as well. We are desperately struggling to get by each month, we don't gave any non essentials (don't know where the debt has come from as we have nothing to show for it) and we don't go out.

Looking for advice as to what to do now. Really feel like don't know where to start but all our money each month goes to paying off debt. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • I didn't want to read and run. I'm sure some wise people will come along and and give you some practical advice. You've done the best thing posting and asking for help.

  • Hello Gizmo,

It would be worth filling out a statement of affairs (soa) http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php

Once completed the lovely people on here can give you some advice on the best way to tackle things.

Could you put some of your husbands on your cards? I dont know if you have used the limit with yours, if you can even transfer from someone elses card, but even a bit at 0% would help.

  • Thanks for replying, I will do the soa tomorrow when I can sit down and concentrate on it.

After reading advice, and discovering that we had enough savings, we paid off hubby's credit card so that's one thing down!:j

One step at a time I guess
