Mortgage Help For Bankrupt please

Hi,

My husband went bankrupt 4 1/2 years ago due to a marriage breakdown. We are trying to get a mortgage for the sum of £27000 to purchase a shared ownership property.
Can anyone help please?
Do you know of anywhere that would do accept him?
He is in full time employment but just has this hanging over him.

There are lending options for this situation, subject to underwriting.

Consult a mortgage broker experienced with both poor credit and affordable housing cases.

    Hi Ponyrider,

I went bankrupt just over 6 years ago and I am only now applying for a mortgage with my husband. My husband already has a mortgage solely in his name at present, however we are applying together so we can get a bigger house.

His bankruptcy will remain on his file for 6 years the same as if he was to have defaults or ccj's. (Your husband that is)

I have gone through my credit file with a fine tooth comb. I would suggest him to do the same if hasn't already done so. My bankruptcy has now been removed automatically from my file due to it being over 6 years.

We are using a financial advisor who is aware of my circumstances and we are applying through accord and YBS is the underwriter. They accept people who have been bankrupt for over 36 months.

    Hope this helps:)

Accord do not do shared ownership.

  • Thanks guy's. His credit file is fine now and the amount we need for the mortgage is just over a year's wages. We are hoping this will help as its not a huge amount in our eyes to borrow..........

Just praying something comes up for us
