Is this HBS the bank, as in HBOS?
No - HBS Financial Planning of Blackpool. They are authorised by the FCA.0 -
From HBS's websit:
"Trying to understand the ‘big picture’, the dominant trends and drivers behind them is a continually demanding process. Most advisers don’t do this as it is simply too much work.
Warren Buffet, one of the world’s most successful investors, correctly identifies that, “Wide diversification is only required by those who don’t know what they are doing”.
It is our view that the most successful investors are those who are prepared to think independently and have courage in their convictions to seek out the most profitable opportunities, rather than spreading their investments thinly across a wide range of different types of assets.
Using this approach, we are able to provide you with a portfolio of investments which is ‘cautious’, ‘speculative’ or anywhere in between. "

I wonder how many others they've dragged into this kind of "investment"?I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

There must have been some enormous kickbacks. I'm just not sure why an Adviser who has gone to the trouble and expense of becoming qualified and regulated would do something so stupid.0

Why all in the US/Canada? Why almost all in precious metals? It seems to me that the friend is lucky to have not lost a great deal more.
We occasionally see some fairly dodgy DIY portfolios posted on here, but yet again one from investment professionals manages to outdo them for risk and lack of diversity.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I would be considering making a complaint about unsuitable investments and bad advice.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
