Cheer up, you're doing so well! Try to focus on what you have achieved so far.

Can you try to resell the item on fb?

Never one to stay deflated for long, I gave myself a stern talking to yesterday afternoon and now I'm fine :):)

I relisted the large item, which sold :) and I also paid in some earnings for the week, which have duly gone as an OP :) That brings my total OPs for the week to just under £800 - this has also involved using some money from next week's grocery budget - DH is working away all week so I can literally halve my food bill when he's away, he has hollow legs and adores meat so he costs a lot to keep :)

Hopefully the mortgage account online will update tomorrow to show exactly what I need to find to make my target for the end of April.

I was reading ERE again last night and one of his key points is that the easiest way to increase your chances of obtaining financial freedom is to reduce your outgoings, which is far easier to do than increase income (unless you are very poor or very rich, in which case the opposite is true). One area we could cut back on is DS nursery days, but that is my working time and would involve me working late into the evenings instead. Not sure what to do just yet but it's food for thought... have good days all x

  • I have the same working arrangement whereby I work in the evenings (I'm self employed) after my twins have gone to bed. It has worked really well for us, avoids nursery fees and lets me enjoy my days with the boys.

Thanks for stopping by PrincessLou. I do need at least one childfree day, in which I do my meetings with customers, but currently DS is at nursery 2 days a week, so I think I may drop it to one.
DD starts at the school nursery in September so no fees there as she will be 3 by then. Oh twins, how lovely. One of my dear friends has 11 month old twin girls and they are just adorable. My DS (13 months) crawls after them like a lovesick puppy hehe xx

The OPs made this week have hit the mortgage account so my balance this morning is £160,775.60, so I have £775.60 to find to meet my hairbrained April target of getting into the 50s! :):):):)

Next week signals the end of the Easter holidays for our area, so I'm hoping work picks up a bit as its always quieter over the holiday period. I really can't believe that we have paid over £10k off the mortgage in such a short period of time - what on earth were we spending our money on before?? Mindful spending and hard work - you can't beat that combination for maximum impact on the finances.

Today will be a spends day, I am going to take DD to the toyshop to choose one toy (I suspect it will be a Minion!) as she has been such a good girl over the Easter hols x

Hi Luckyinlife, thanks for popping in. Your diary is on my "to read" list, hope to have some time this afternoon to catch up with a few diaries.

I have no idea about the term reduction, all I work to is that if we pay it off in 5 years as planned it will have been paid off in 7 years rather than the 30 years we took the mortgage over! To think, if I had started on this journey when we moved in at the end of 2012 we would be halfway there to paying it off! x

Thanks :] let me know how you think im getting on so far :]

I see ya i know what you mean is there a minimum amount per month youll have to overpay by to hit the 5 year target ?
Its an amazing target tho with that kind of amount of money to pay off in that term i hope you kill it :]

we in kinda the same situation really im 27 going on 28 and i am planning to hit 10 years instead of the 25 years i took out :]

im great with saving or will be Overpaying now but defiantly need to live a little bit more frugally so i need tips lol you know how it is when you live with family all your life you get used to spending £20 on a meal without even thinking about it lol

Well done on the overpayments. Am selling on facebay at the moment too! Delighted everytime something leaves the house and cash goes into the pot :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
