Just paid off debt to Glasgow City council?

Hi, I managed to pay of the remainder of my debt to Glasgow City council, woo hoo! this was because they realised that I hadnt claimed for my single persons discount for one of the years (i would suggest those who have been in or are in debt with them, know of this to reduce your debt),anyway, what I was wondering was... Will this now improve my credit rating? Thanks in advance.:D

P.S.,Now if I can just pay off all my other debt!LOL

Not absolutely certain but I don't think council tax or rent arrears have any bearing on your credit rating. I am sure someone will be along in a mo to put us right.

The thing is, it went to a debt collecting agencey so this is why I thought it might affect me... It wsa the sherifs office that dealt with it as well.

I have, in the past, had problems with Council Tax - the Councils are unique in that they don't need to have a CCJ before sending in Bailiffs (Sherrif's Officers in Scotland) but I have to say that this never appeared on my credit file.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
