Looking for a double bed with mattress

Can anyone recommend any retailers or beds for a double bed or small double bed, for a limited £300 budget, something basic but functional?
So far I've looked at John Lewis and Argos, the former starting at £250 and not having much on offer, and the latter starting at a bit less than that.
Argos have a Divan memory foam bed (also comfort and cushiontop versions) for £250:

This is supposedly half-price, although I'm always wary of those claims. And there's no real way of knowing if this range is even half-decent because no one else seems to sell them. But who knows, maybe they are good.
The other option would be to try to find one in one of the independent high street shops.
And another option would be to go second hand, and try Gumtree or eBay, which I would consider. Although I had a quick look on Gumtree, and there was no way of knowing what make and model of bed each one was, so there was no way of knowing whether it was good value.
Can anyone suggest the best retailer to go for, or maybe some specific beds?

Here's a pocket sprung and memory foam divan bed for less then the Argos Open Coil.
It's cracking value for money......http://www.bedzrus.co.uk/catalog/divan_beds/memory_foam/double/Deep_Sleep_Silk_1000_Double_Divan_6134_585.html
Just bear in mind I'm recommending the product and not the retailer.
You may be able to find it a little cheaper, I just googled the model and posted the 1st cheapest link that I found.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Have you tried Ikea?
You can get the mattress and bed base separately to save money and together start at £140 (£59 bed base, £80 double foam base mattress) they have other more expensive types. Not sure how delivery works out or if it's cheaper to rent a van/sort out your own delivery (hire a van or man-with-a-van or something) but if Argos start at £250 then I'd think you could do better than that at Ikea.
I got my Ikea bed (cheapest bed stand was £75 and decent mattress which was £350 at the time- they have many more now) I got them just over 10 years ago and they're both still going strong (although I'd recommend paying extra for a prettier bed stand if you can afford it, I have what looks like a very basic wooden box with slats. Does the job but feels a bit too minimal IMO but each to their own, go with what works for you.) :

Thanks for the link, looks nice, and memory foam woullc be great. I'm sure the retailer is fine too, although I will research them. If I could find the bed in a shop so I could try it out then that would be great.
I can't get to IKEA too easily unfortunately (no CD out of town), so if buying from thrnit would have to be online, and ideally s bed that I'd tried in a shop somewhere.
I'll try various models in some high street shops, and then see what prices I can find online, although that bed is tempting.
Please keep the suggestions coming if you have any (no frills but sturdy and functional). I know there are bargains out there!0 -
There is another one with 500 more springs for only £20 more although it's "bronze" instead of "silk", whatever that means.
