hey all,
were remortgaging at the end of the year and i wondered if its worth me looking at creating a current account to tap into better interest deals when the time comes?
just wondered if anyone had done this to improve their rate and which banks are the best?
cheers

Some banks offer better deals for their current account customers from time to time. Lloyds sometimes offer lower application fees for their current account customers, although the same deals with the lower fees are generally available to everyone through Halifax. As a general rule though when banks offer a special deal to their current account customers they are also available to people switching their account. So there's no point speculatively switching your current account now to try and get better deals that might or might not exist when you want them.
The only bank to consistently offer an extra benefit is Santander, where you get 1% cashback on your mortgage payment if the DD comes from their 123 current account. But it's only a small extra perk if you're getting a Santander mortgage anyway, it's not worth taking out a mortgage with them just to get cashback if another lender has a better rate.0 -
