NHS Choice 2 - additional pension

Does anyone know what happens to the additional pension I have purchased in the 1995 section if I move to the 2008 section.


I understand I wouldn't be able to continue my added years contract but I can't find a thing about purchased additional pension.


If I move to the 2008 section and the additional pension becomes payable at 65 I shouldn't have paid so much for it in the first place!!


Of course I'll ring the hotline on Monday, but was hoping to sit down and examine my options this weekend.

Ok so I rang NHS pensions.


If I move to the 2008 section, my additional pension will be paid at 65 (or when I retire). I pointed out that I paid more for it to paid at 60 with my 1995 pension than if I'd chosen to take it at 65. Apparently there is no provision to 're-quote'. I'm going to write them a letter, because it would have been a few thousand cheaper to buy had I selected to take it at 65!
