That seems excessive. 3 of us in 3 bed bungalow, £ 55 per month. Worth getting an energy monitor to make sure there isn't a heater on in the loft!

We went for the keypad option, seems to work out cheaper for us: averages £63 per month - 4 bed semi, 3 adults working different patterns.

Our bill is £30 p/m and I thought that was high.

    a £1 a day is good .

  • I pay £20 per month in a 3 bed semi with 2 adults. I reckon mine will go up slightly when it is next calculated but I can't see it being much.

Seems our usage is not as bad as I thought it was. We are with Airtricity and pay between £40 and £45 a month for a 4 BR House, occupied by 2 Adults and 2 children.
  • Very interesting the wide variation on usage here...... House size, type of heating and level of insulation will obviously make a difference but I wonder how much the use of certain appliances increases the usage...
Having 3 young kids, I know our Tumble Dryer is usually on at least once every other day during the week and 3 or 4 times a day on a Saturday/Sunday if doing the bedding..
Cooking for us is gas apart from Oven which is electric.
Other than that is all just lighting and general appliances like TV'S Computers etc..... mind you I could possibly save by turning off rather than leaving on Standby...

I did an electricity useage check on my applicances and I have an old freezer using 3.5 times the normal rate and it has been recommended for replacing.

Is this something you did online or a device you put between the plug and socket to check usage??

I had electricians out for a separate job and I asked if they would do a useage check which they did, free of charge.
