New FIT rates from April

Not seen any posts on this but as the RPI figures have been released for December the new FIT rates can be worked out.
Looks like it should be an increase of 1.6% as that was RPI - fortunately not the much lower CPI figure! So the main rate for original installations should be 48.8p per kWh as of April.

The difference is tiny, but what triggers the higher rate? It is on all meter reading submitted after 1 April, i.e. is pre-April generation paid at the higher rate if the trigger date for payment is April?I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

The paying organisation will have a wild guess at what your generation might have been on 1st April unless you make a point of reading on that day & telling themNE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

Agreed, but somehow they always seem to do it in their favour.

Not a lot of money, I just send 2 readings, 1 before and 1 after Apr 1st:cool:16 Sanyo Hit 250s.4kWp SMA 3.8kWp inverter. SW roof. 28° pitch. Minimal shade. Nov 2011 install. Hybrid car. Ripple Kirk Hill. N.E Lincs Coast.0 -

I'm not sure that their errors would be either good or bad for them. Surely they just claim whatever they've sent you from a central fund ?
I too have been taking & reporting an extra reading after sunset on 31st March although after last year's one Scottish Power asked me to change my quarterly reading date to 3 months after that (which I'd actually suggested & they ignored for the previous year !). But they would be shaping up to introducing another error in that when paying one period they keep asking me to claim again in a little bit less than 3 months time. I of course ignore that and keep reporting on evening of the last day of month.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

Same with SP here, I just keep submitting after sunset on the last day of every calendar quarter and they keep giving me a new submission date with every payment .... dumb computers programmed by dumb people ...

There's certainly no intend to favour themselves. At least 2 of them just use a simplistic calculation based on number of days before/after Apr 1st with the assumption that generation on each of those days is equal. Clearly the reality is more power is "likely" generated on days after Apr 1st but it by no means definite and given the bill payer foots the bill for FIT it would be wrong to make that assumption. As said you're talking pence but just submit a reading with a read date of March 31st. I'd advice not submitting a read before that date as it's likely they'll ignore the March 31st one due to mainly only paying out once per qtr.Agreed, but somehow they always seem to do it in their favour.

.
True.
Last year I know 2 people that had SP fitted and sent FIT applications off as required with start up readings.
Both received confirmation weeks later, asking them to telephone in with the Gen meter read on that day.
This was then classed as the opening read.
Both the people had produced over 150kWh that was "lost" to them:eek:
When I had my SP installed, I informed my power supplier, gave them a reading of 3kWh??
This was accepted and I was paid accordingly:TThere's certainly no intend to favour themselves. I just send both readings at the same time, on the 14th of the appropriate month:D16 Sanyo Hit 250s.4kWp SMA 3.8kWp inverter. SW roof. 28° pitch. Minimal shade. Nov 2011 install. Hybrid car. Ripple Kirk Hill. N.E Lincs Coast.0 -
Ofgem updated/clarified their guidance so what SP did is correct.True.
