vodaphone/ capquest.

I had a debt with vodaphone in 2009 from a disconnected phone.
The total was in the region of £820
It was referred to capquest in 2011 when I paid £100 off and when I tried to pay £100 the following month they claimed it was now back with vodaphone.
I have tried to contact vodaphone several times to pay this off but between them and capquest the amount owed, DOB and name of the account holder and address keep changing.
The had a completely wrong name on the account for my today when I called and then refused to tell me the full amount owed as I couldn't pass security due to my name being wrong- after putting me on hold they finally found my account and were able to confirm that I owe £715.
I questioned the amount owed and they said they had received a payment of £5.13 in Jan 2015 (last month).
Well i dont know who paid this but it certainly wasn't me.
I asked to speak to a manage to discuss the possibility of a f and final as i need to clear these debts and don't really have a lot of money but have christmas money that I am willing to use to clear it.
I have finally spoken to a lady that has accessed my account at vodaphone but she says they dont negotiate settlements at all so i will have to wait for it to be allocated to a recovery agency again???
can anyone advise me

I'd stop trying to deal with them by telephone as it sounds like your account could be mixed up with somebody else's account.
I would write to vodaphone with any details you have for the account (ac number or phone number) to ask them to provide you with a detailed statement of any alleged debt they believe that you owe.
It sounds like the account they mentioned on the phone call may very well not be your account.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
And make sure they know its a complaint as you want to know where your £100 went. State you have been trying to pay but it's been impossible, etc.:beer:0

Finally got through to a lovely lady in their collections team who found the right name, dob and address and the correct amount, i cross matched the payments i have made to be 100% sure and she negotiated it down to £600 partial settlement with her manager for all the hassel:T:T:T. Im so pleased, its all paid off and they text me almost immediately to say account cleared and closed with the payment ref no.happy_bunny wrote: »And make sure they know its a complaint as you want to know where your £100 went. Sounds good.
Keep the details of that text safe as well as the statement showing the payment going out.
These things are usually better done in writing. You could follow up in writing for written confirmation. As you can tell, companies are not always that organised...:beer:0
