Please can anyone help, we are currently starting our dmp with step change and today have received 2 letters re our credit card balance. The first one says thanks for your offer please make this and it will continue to clear the balance the second letter is a default notice. This says we have failed to make minimum payments and need to do this before the 19th February or we will take legal action. Help,as I'm no so confused and to scared to ring them

Don't worry about the default notice, it is just something they are required to send to you before they can register a default on your credit file.
When you are on a DMP then defaults are pretty much inevitable and the best hope is to get the defaults as soon as possible (as the sooner you get them the sooner they drop off your credit file).
My guess is that the letter says they may take legal action, not that they will. It is standard wording on a default letter.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
