tights tearing

This is one for the girls. My tights always tear at the toe often on first or second wear. I keep my toenails trim so doubt it's that. Does anyone know any tricks to stop them going through at the toe- usually the big toe- or any good quality brand tights that you have found that don't have this issue. Thanks

Firstly, what denier of tight are you buying? If thin (under 20 denier), I think they all have a tendency for tearing, though I could be wrong..
If the tights you are buying are thick, but are still tearing at the toe, I'd suggest going up a size and seeing if that helps. I had the problem of my tights tearing, but because I'm slim I never thought I needed a size 'Large'. Actually, though, because I am tall the larger size accommodates a few inches ofextra height, and I've found that I no longer have the problem of tearing.
I usually buy M&S tights (40 denier+) if that helps, and the quality isn't bad (they haven't gone misshapen or laddered or anything).0 -
you could use some clear nail varnish around the toe area if it doesn't irritate your skin0

I find cheaper tights to be more hardwearing. I quite like the Golden Lady ones you can get from Asda - they're about £1.50 a pair but I can get five or more 'wears' from a single pair (and obviously they're washed in between lol). I also find that some shoes can cause the laddering at the toe, if they're rubbing.0

An old trick from my years of dance classes is to spray your tights with hairspray. It means that if you do get a hole they won't ladder.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

My tights always rip at the toe and sometimes around the gusset. Maybe I need to buy bigger sizes..Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

I'll try that. Do you apply it with the toe area stretched look you had them on like around your fist or something?0
