    Hi Janer

There's a thread somewhere on the site which explains all the jargon, you'll soon get the swing of it! DH is dear/darling husband,ds-son,dd-daughter etc. A dmp is a debt management plan and cccs are the consumer credit counselling service who are fabulous if you're in dire straits financially. I can't praise them enough.
keep reading the posts and once you've read a few you'll soon get the gist of things.

    Hi Janer,
There's a sticky with all the abbreviations on it. Go to the forums drop down list and scroll down, near the bottom of the list there's a thread "site feedback-questions and suggestions" click on here and look for the thread titled unofficial A-Z, the sticky you need is the first one on this list.
    Hope it helps :D

Had good news yesterday morning- computer broke so been offline till now- co-op have ok'd our bank account and it should be up and running by the end of the week (hopefully). I'm sooo relieved i can't tell you. Spoke to cccs as i was worried because we'd missed cut off date for dmp to start in sept, they just said to send double payments for october, so hopefully it will be ok. Unfortunately my wages will be paid into my old acount as i've missed the cutoff date for changing them (it was last friday:mad: )...luckily i haven't sent the dmp letter to the existing account holding bank so i'll be able to move the money when it's paid in and then send them the letter, otherwise they'll take our loan money out of it!! I feel so relieved, me and dh had decided that we probably wouldn't get the account, you know in that "worst scenario/doom and gloom type way!, so we're really pleased. Little things...

Do you have to use Yorkshire Bank?

Nationwide do an account that doesn't require a credit check, you have to apply in branch and specifically ask for the account that doesn't require the credit check otherwise they will automatically try and open the next one up that does.

I have a Natwest Step Account which is a basic account, there is no O/D facility or cheque book but you do get a solo card.

I've been turned down by quite a few banks too, so maybe give one of these a go.

Good luck with your DMP, there is a DMP mutual support thread on this board, maybe pop in there and say hello.

    Speak to you soon

Just a quick point re: nationwide accounts. If you go this route then you will need to ask for a cashbuilder account (savings accounts are not credit scored) - this is a savings account and you cant do direct debits or standing orders from it. You can withdraw cheques over the counter for free however so you could still pay your bills. All Nationwide current accounts are credit scored and any bad credit history will mean you will not get debit facilities, and may not even get a cash card.

DH got his bank card for our new bank account through the post today :j I'm so relieved! Still waiting for one of our creditors to send us written details of our loan, i got them over the phone but requested written details at the beginning of last week and they still haven't come. If the letter hasn't come through by the time the rest of the bank info comes i'll contact cccs to ask If verbal details are sufficient. When I spoke to them last week they said not to send the stuff to them without ALL the information so i'll see what they say. Other good news-DS got good GCSE results so we're extra proud of him :T The red hh is happy this week! Oh yeh went blackberry picking with dd yesterday and picked 3lbs of berries, found a post for blackberry vodka on the os board so we're going to give that a go (if its good we'll be an even happier hh at Christmas when it's ready!)
