Selling Gems

Hi, I've done the usual "googles" looking for buyers that buy gemstones but seem to be coming up with nada and wondered if anyone has any experience selling them.
I had them valued with a reputable jeweller quite a few years ago now and they've sat in a drawer waiting to be made into something for the past nearly 17 years but 1. I'm not really a jewellry fan and 2. if I did ever get them made up into something I would be too scared of losing them so I thought why not liquify the cash instead and buy something I really want? I'm just wondering if these posh pawn type people would be worth a shot but because I know absolutely nothing about their true value I'm scared of getting fleeced.
Their value all those years ago was £700.
Thanks for any input.

I'd suggest taking them to a trusted jewellers and getting them valued again as the price could have changed since then. Some jewellers will also buy jewellery.
If they're worth quite a bit perhaps taking them to an auction house might be an idea.0 -
As with everything in life, I'd recommend getting at least 3 quotes- so you can be sure that you have a fair idea of the value. When I was selling gold a few years ago (my grandmother's wedding ring which I knew I'd never wear), I went to 3 local jewellers. They each gave slightly different prices and I took it to the one that offered me the best price.Minimalist
