UK Credit Ltd

Hi, new to the forum so apologies if I get something wrong. Has anyone had any dealings with UK Credit of Norwich. My wife has a loan with them and we have run into a bit of difficulty and set up an agreement but they started to hassle and threaten her at 11:30am on the day the payment was due. I am currently in discussion with their CEO about the way she was treated but when I stated my elderly mother was v unwell and dying he told me to 'inform them next time'!!! What??? My reply was 'the next time my mother is dying I will phone and tell you'!!! Obnoxious, rude and inconsiderate, insensitive people.

Has anyone else had problems with them??

But but they offer fixed rate loans as low** as 39.9%*

    * Fixed rate loans from 39.9% to 59.9%

** low, as in very high

I would say steer clear but too late.

  • Yes, I am afraid it is. :(

We realise that but its the way we have been treated. I wondered if anyone had any similar experiences with them.

If they treated you like that, I would not be surprised if they probably treat others with payment difficulties similarly.

I would suggest writing to them to state that you require all future communication to be in writing and to remove your phone numbers from their records. See this template letter - Harassment by telephone - possible letter and citations
If the continue to harrass your wife then I would report them to the FCA.

I doubt very much that he meant "inform us the next time your mother is dying". He will have meant "inform us the next time you are having difficulties paying".

No offence OP, but loans companies will hear stories like this all the time, from people who just can't be bothered paying and so don't.

  • Of course they will but it doesn't matter if it is someone who doesn't want to pay or someone who is having difficulty. They should have a little compassion, listen first and then make judgement and not be so rude or threatening.

I/we were more than happy to pay the arranged figure until the threats and abusive calls started, on the day the payment was due!! We were not even late!!!! It then becomes a different matter.

Using the way they spoke to you as some sort of justification for not paying them is going to open a financial World of hurt on you.

Breaking your contractual agreement in the first place is a serious matter. They hold all the cards, you hold none.

I'm not trying to defend them but simply trying to convince you that your actions will only come back on you if you push back.

By all means complain keeping it civil and factual but above all else, continue repaying whatever it is you have agreed to.
