The diffrence in sheets?

Sheets - there are so many diffrent types.
I have been giving it some research, prompted by the chat on MSE about the benefits of deep fited sheets.
I have in the past just bought my sheets from the supermarket. Mostly Asda brand.
They wash well and last for a few years.
I have resently tried a sheet with a frill instead of fitted.
Well! It did not stay put to well so I have cut it up for crafting.
I should have listened
to MSE members.
I have now bought a luxury 400 thread count, Egyptian cotton, sateen, fitted sheet.
It has a long 15"box fit and covers my 10" deep matress beautifully with plenty to tuck under.
I got it from Amazon and used my survey vouchers, so no pennies spent :j

The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

I used to swear by fitted sheets - but unless you get the right size sheet for the right size mattress, they don't fit! I got sick and tired of some sheets fitting some beds and not others.
So - I've gone back to flat sheets. Every sheet fits every bed, they're easier to iron, so look better, and because there's no elasticated corners they dry quicker too.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

To me the glory of fitted sheets is that they just stretch over the bed and no need for ironing.
I agree that not all sheets fit properly. Maybe someone will come along with good recommendations.0 -
Yes, iron!!
I can't believe I'm saying it either.
No, I never ironed my fitted sheets because
a) they're impossible to iron, and
b) they stretch so you can't see the creases.
Except, you can see the creases.
It takes less than a minute to iron a double sheet. My mother would be proud. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
 Iron? Sheets?_pale_

I'm with you and have never ironed sheets whether fitted or not, life is too short.
At the moment I'm using John Lewis Egyptian cotton sheets which are very creased when they go on but who cares!:pLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Who can see the creases though?
I don't have anyone traipsing around my bedroom, the only people who would see the creases are me and my husband, but we'd be in the bed, so wouldn't be able to see them because we'd be lying on the sheet!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
iron sheets... that has to be a mental illness.. (I last ironed something over 4 years ago.. 1 item.. I don't even own an iron)
Surely sleeping on your sheets crumples them, playing tents with the mr certainly does.. and they sounds COOOOOOLLLLLDDDD... nice soft flannelette every time.. like getting into a big slipper!

Ironed sheets put me in the mood, and they re crumple differently, and to far lesser degree, Takes hardly any time.
I'm a flat sheet person too though.
One of the things I am gulping at the cost of but considering doing is buying some silk sheets. My husband has psoriasis and in theory they might be better for his skin. They are just so expensive though.
We already have a couple of silk pillow slips, which I inadvisably bought in cream. They look like nasty old yellowed pillows.0 -
I can see the sheets!
I don't do it for other people to see, I do it because that's the way I like it. It would be a poor show if I only did stuff because other people might see it.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
I used to have fitted sheets (wedding presents), but much prefer to just buy flat sheets. all my sheets are double as its easy to tuck the excess in and I don't have to faff around finding single sheets.0

I'll admit to ironing sheets too. Fitted and flat. In fact if I won the lottery my indulgence would be freshly laundered and ironed sheets every day.
There also my splurge item. I buy white satin striped Sheridan sheets in the Dawsons sales. An extravagance I know but I'll scrimp on other things to spurge on the sheets.:o0
