Capital one Debt help needed

Good morning all,

(hope this is the right place to post)

I am currently in debt with capital one i owe £930 pound they have sent me a letter with a payment plan which is what i want too do.
I am claiming JSA at the current time an have a low income , so i wanna feel out this form an offer a minimum payment until i get my feet back on the ground. My problem is they want me to add bank statement off the last month which i do not feel comfortable about is there a way to get around this without them sticking there nose into every little transaction i make? in my bank i have 400 pound not a lot an i need that extra money in case of a emergency. If i send bank statement i know they will try an take every little penny i have.

Any advice would be great thank you for reading

Hi, maybe you need to speak to them for some advice.

Or could you move your emergency fund to a savings/another account?

  • they want bank statement over the last month to show how much income i have going in an coming out an how much i spend on food etc .. so if i take it out they will see i have moved a small sum off money an ask a million questions. So i guess the best thing to do would be too call them an tell them via phone an see how that goes

If you give them a fixed sum of what you are able to pay guaranteed each month, they may not need to see your bank information.

Hi and welcome to the forum

You are under absolutely no obligation to provide a bank statement.
They are not allowed to refuse to accept your offer just because you haven't sent the statement.

I would simply write back to them and state that you are out of work and only claiming JSA and that you are currently only able to afford £5 a month (or whatever you can afford).
I wouldn't bother to mention a bank statement at all.

I also wouldn't contact them by phone, best to keep everything in writing.
