I think it's likely that overnight restocking will be a casualty of the cutting back on staff that many SMs are making. Plus for customers is that there will be more staff to speak to in store.

Except they'll be in the back sorting out stock that previously would have been dealt with overnight.

Why do you need to talk to staff in store ? Apart from your cashier or customer services there shouldn't be any need to distract them from their duties. (Apart from when the supermarket moves everything around of course- but most of the time the staff don't know where it was moved to either :D)

My local Morrisons has been open for 7 years and they have never restocked overnight. They have a bunch of kids come in 5-6pm and they restock until 9.30pm. The store closes at 9.00pm, they have a half hour tidy up etc. then all go home and lock the store at 9.30pm.

They also restock 4-8pm on Sundays and also do the special offer changes.

maman didn't say he/she needed to talk to the staff. Why do you think maman only talks to people when he/she needs to?

I talk to the staff in my local Morrisons all the time

"distract them from their duties"! You're living in the wrong century! They are not slaves who have to work constantly for 8 hours and not speak to anyone. My local morrisons actively encourages the staff to talk to the customers. Not to go up to a customer and start a conversation, but if a customer comes up to them then they are encouraged to stop what they are doing and chat with the customer (within reason). Obviously if they are serving on a till and have a queue they can't spend 10 minutes chatting to a customer, but if they are just putting tins on shelves or sweeping floors etc. they can.

In the store I work for that is my job, I walk around the store talking to customers, and helping them if they need help.
