Can anyone recommend Christians against poverty???

I ask this as I have debt issues and its a free service, they make arrangments etc to pay your debts of like other debt management companies but don't charge you and they are local if you need them.

I am not religeous but I am considering this just wandered if anyone has had a good experience with them :)

    Yes I can

You do not have to be a Christian to get help from them, it is just that they are all Christian.

The advantage above ther organisations is the extra mile that they will go to help you, in adition to the debt manager they have support workers (my wife is one) and do lots beyond just helping your debt situation.

Feel free to PM me if you would like to ask any specific questions.

    Regards

    Andrew

A friend of mine who is on benefits and accordingly was rejected by Payplan and CCCS has just set up a plan with them. I think it is a DMP but she is not the brightest spark and is unsure. She has found them really helpful up to date and they are prepared to deal with the likes of Provident Shopacheck and other door to door collections. From what I gather she had to be recommended to them as there was a waiting list for appointments. HOH

I think that the ONLY disadvantage with them is that they do not have full national coverage. You can find out, via their website, if there is a branch near you.
Otherwise, I have heard only good reports about them - AND they do not try to ram religion down your throat.

Then talk to them - but if you can't get an appointment, there ARE other Debt Counselling Charities, such as CCCS, National Debtline, PAYPLAN and the CAB. These are, equally, free and can give independent and professional help and advice.
Also, you can post your situation here and we will try to point you in the best direction.

Also about bunkruptcy?? I was thinking of taking this route due to the money that I have incoming and money owed it seems the best solution (pending furthur advise) but you need money to do it yourself, I don't have £500 to file a bankruptcy claim to the court or there abouts.

Is there anyway round this if this is the route suggested?? sorry to ask

Yes there is - courts will waive their fee (approx £125) if you are on benefits, and there are certain companies, such as British Gas and EDF, to whom you can apply for a grant to cover the rest.
However, bankruptcy should ONLY be considered after taking professional advice. Whilst bankruptcy WILL solve your debt problems, it will also impact considerably on your life.
I suggest that you contact CCCS - you can do this anonymously if you so wish. Also they have two debt advisors - CCCS_Emily and CCCS_Matthew - who post on this forum - it could be worth your while contacting them, by PM.
We also have a 'Bankruptcy and Living with it' sub-forum, where you can see how we have dealt with bankruotcy - you will be most welcome, and there is some excellent advice.
