In hindsight... I possibly should have investigated the price difference for the highest-rated panels to make the most of my lack of space on SW-facing roof.4kWp system (Feb 2014) : 1.5 SW, 2.5 NE (16x Bisol BMO/250, Aurora Power-One UNO PVI-3.6 Inverter : pvoutput.org/list.jsp?id=299350

From what you're all saying / mentioning the other higher rated panels...
It could give us 'ammunition' for future quotes....??
While in quotes too....
Anyone used / know of 'infiniteNRG' based in Gateshead, Team Valley Trading Estate??

I've texted and emailed them on Monday for a quote, and still no reply....?0 -
To be honest, there are enough reputable installers around that if someone doesn't reply, move on.
Don't hang your hat on a specific installer, you could miss out whilst waiting for a response from someone that may never come?4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.0 -
This'll be quote number 5...
Just annoyed that some don't reply at all.
The quotes I have so far are all over the £6k mark, when many on here say I should / could be aiming for under that figure, which is why I'm still 'shopping about'.....0 -
I had a similar experience when looking for installers for my second system. I found quite a few local installers and sent off requests for a quote to all of them. I also sent requests off to installers much further afield - Somerset, Essex, Kent and Lancashire. No replies from the local installers, not a single one, but replies from the long distance ones. Finished up with the installers from Rochdale who gave a very competitive quote with a Solar edge optimiser system thrown in 'for free'.theboylard wrote: »To be honest, there are enough reputable installers around that if someone doesn't reply, move on.

Goldfinger..
This is the quote we got from some local chaps (when I say local, I mean Sunderand, SR5) - but they actually travel all the UK.
Obviously, this price/figs are subject to change and home survey may be required.. How does it compare to yours
Design & installation of 3kw solar PV system (12 x 250w CSUN modules in portrait orientation)
Hosolar 2500TL inverter with 5yr guarantee.
Price includes scaffold, EPC and VAT.
First year benefits approximately £500 (this is made up of Feed in tariff and estimated electricity savings. The FIT is guaranteed for 20 years and rises with inflation. Your savings will increase as electricity prices rise).
Installation usually takes 1 day with minimal disruption.
Total - £5,450.000 -
That quote is way too much in todays market. Anybody looking for that size system should be looking at £3k-£3.5k. I sincerely hope you haven't taken them up on that price, there's no wonder they'll travel around the country with that amount of mark up on them.Goldfinger..

Hi all..
But what happened??
We subscribed to this thread, and then stopped being email informed that people have been replying...
Anyway, we've been thinking and looking at the longer picture, and so have decided to not have solar PV fitted..
For 1, our credit history ain't that good. We hoped to take out our own finance package and not the installers one at a higher rate.
And 2, even if we went ahead, it's just another payment per month we need to find. That even after we get our FIT and ET. So don't want to end up (risk getting) into debt etc.0
