Cheap ranitidine?

Does anyone have any idea why ranitidine (the no-brand form of Zantac, for heartburn and indigestion) seems to be disappearing from shelves?

I use to be able to go into Poundstretcher, B and M, Wilkinsons, etc and pick up a pack of 12 for 79p, sometimes even as low as 49p. For the past few months it's nowhere to be seen - everywhere has stopped stocking it. Tesco still do it, but it's £1.50 a box and they're frequently out of stock. I've had a quick look online but nothing to beat the Tesco £1.50.

Any ideas? Is it a global conspiracy by Zantac? :D Or any suggestions for where to buy it cheap, perhaps in bulk?
