Tips for running a book club

Options
Hi everyone

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I wondered if anyone had any useful tips for running a book club successfully.

I have set it up via "meetup" so that will go live over the next few days.

Does anyone have any tips or experience from book clubs they've attended to make this a really nice place for people to meet and chat?

Thanks in advance.

Meetings can quickly degenerate into gossip-fests. The trick is to stay focused on the book. Sometimes easier said than done.
It can be a good idea to formulate a number of questions to think about each month, the usual questions applicable to all books, plus specific ones for that text. Lots of information can be found on the internet. Just type in book club questions.
