Applying for bank account whilst half way through mortgage app

In the middle of nationwide mortgage application. Now i want to apply for nationwide bank account as it will ne easier. Would it affect the mortgage app in anyway if i applied now? Or shall i wait until completion. Im sure nationwide would understand you would think?
