Sainsbury's gift cards

I wasn't sure where to put this: if I've made the wrong choice perhaps someone would kindly correct me.
It's possible that this is something which everyone already knows, but just in case: yesterday I tried to use a Sainsbury's gift card only to discover that it had expired and the value had been completely wiped out. They only last for two years from the date of purchase, apparently - something which had completely passed me by. And that two years had also passed by, incredibly quickly: I'd no idea that the card had been sitting in my wallet for so long.
As I say, sorry if this is an uneccessary warning but I'd hate for anyone else to get caught out as I was.

Don't put up with it - it's theft, pure and simple.Sainsbury's has had an interest free loan for two years.
I, too, recently found a card I had misplaced that had 'expired' and was told by Sainsbury's head office that if I sent it back to them they will renew it. I'm in the process of finding our right now. If they don't replace it there is going to be trouble.0 -
Just to note, this 2 year thing is standard on most gift cards, some have an even shorter shelf life of 1 year or even just 6 months. Always read the small print on the card or if in doubt call up the card number to double check, once the vouchers are gone, their gone.0

Thanks for that. How did you contact the head office? Letter? Phone? Email?
I spoke to them on the phone and they told me that if I returnd the card to their promotional department (I'm afraid I can't find the address at the moment) it would be 'renewed' and returned. ISTR there is a phone number on the back of the card.
Having said that, I sent mine back and am still waiting to hear from them. I'm not going to let this drop, though.0 -
Thanks. I'll do the same and see what happens.0

If that is meant sincerely, you're welcome.0
