I wonder if you could advise me as I am more confused then ever. I went to Carphone warehouse because my mobile doesn’t seem to be working properly. They said it’s something I have done because I get a irritating voice now every time I go from one page to another.
I keep getting conflicting advice at Carphone Warehouse. One says with the Nokia Lumia 635 that I can’t upgrade until the end of June, and that it would cost me £120 to get out of my contract.
I would also be paying £6.99 for insurance and still £17.50, as yesterday I was told I would only be paying £12.50 a month for the phone and £7.99 a month for insurance.
I keep being pushed to the Nokia 735 which is a bit more expensive at £8 a month insurance which she said was the better phone, I said how much would I be paying for that phone and she said she would have to see what tariffs were available in June which is a bit confusing. She seemed to get irritated with me because I was getting confused with the numbers, aren’t they supposed to be there to help.
In a right mess now because I don’t know what to do. Can you please advise me on what I should do? Should I buy myself out of the contract or what? Sorry to ask you this, as I’m not sure of the right path to take.

Do you want a new phone or would you rather sort out the problem with the old one? If you can give a bit more detail on what the problem is, make and model of phone etc, then it's worth posting a thread on the mobiles board here

It sounds like a software problem rather than a hardware problem, so if you know anyone who's technically minded then could you ask them to have a look at it for you? Or maybe take it to an independent phone shop. CPW are more likely to want to tie you into a new contract than rectify an issue with your existing phone
If all else fails you could try resetting the phone to factory settings and see if that resolves the problem.0 -
Hello Aura
The helpful sales people are their to make you spend and some get comision.
I like to compare and review on the computer @ home. No hassle.
It sounds like the best time to change tariff on your phone is @ end of contract without leaving fee.
It is shocking an extra DD for phone insurance. More cash lost from your monthly money.
Myself, I do not own a posh all singing phone.
My phone is several years old and a pink PAYG. It does what is needed in sending a text or the rare phone call. No insurance needed.
Best wishes.....The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Thanks for your replay.

I would like a new one if possible. I have now been advised to hold on until 28th June which is a pain as I am going away on the 27th. I would like to do it the day before, or I’ll be locked into my stupid contract again!
Make and model of phone
It’s a Samsung Glaxacy ace 2

That’s what I said but Carphone warehouse (being Carphone warehouse) insisted it was something I had done by turning something on

Yes I know, I will leave if that’s the issue. I dumped their phone and broadband service because of the appalling customer service I received.

This reminds me of when my mum got a smartphone and kept putting it on silent - she kept phoning me asking how to fix it.
You probably have just done something to the settings on the phone which could be easily fixed but your descriptions are vague so it is hard to help. I used to have this phone and am not really sure what you mean by irritating voice when you go "one page to another". Have you read an instruction manual for it? What does the voice say?
If you know any teenagers maybe you could get one to have a look at your phone- they can usually fix these things swiftly.0
