Milk price comparison

That's what supermarkets pay farmers and how much they charge (semi skimmed fresh milk, 2 pints carton, price per litre).
Pity Aldi and Lidl are not included.

Sainsbury's pay farmers 34p, charge us 78.3p per litre
Marks and Spencer 34 (no prices online)
Waitrose 33p/78.3
Tesco 32p/66p
Co-op 31p (no prices online)
Arla 25p ,
Asda (supplied by Arla) 25p/66p
Muller Wiseman 25p
Dairy Crest set to cut its price to less than 25p
First Milk about 22p
Iceland (25p/66.4) gets its milk from Arla and Muller Wiseman
Morrisons (25p(and less)/78.1) gets its milk from Arla and Dairy Crest.

    I assume that you meant "2 l" (2 litres) not "2 lb" (2 pounds). Which prices are you comparing? I can see no relationship to actual prices.

    The major supermarkets' own brands tend to be sold by the pint. Milk sold in litres tends to have been processed to extend its life.

    For example:
    ASDA 66p/Iceland 66.4p? Currently 89p for 4 pints (= 39.2p per litre). The longer life stuff is £1.25 for 2 litres at ASDA (= 62.5p per litre)

    Tesco 66p/Waitrose 78.3p? Currently £1 for 4 pints. (=44p per litre). The longer life stuff is £1.50 for 2 litres at Tesco (= 75p per litre)

    Also, not all supermarkets sell as 2lts. Asda for example sell 2.27 litres or 4 pints, as it is clearly marked on the carton.

    fresh milk only, own brand, to compare like for like.
    yes... rather confusing if I mix pounds and litres ;)
