Ive worked for the same company for the past 12 years. last August we had our annual payrise, but in june this year i found out i'd been on the wrong rate of pay. The company has now ammended this and back paid me until febuary but says it cannot pay further back as the company was sold. Is there anyway of claiming back my wage from last August to January or is it lost for good.
Any advice would be great. Thank you

I think your issue is a bit more complicated though. This would be a TUPE transfer which means that all your rights and conditions as an employee of the former company would be honoured by the new company. So had you raised a grievance regarding the pay rise prior to the takeover then the incoming company must pick it up.
I really don't know the answer - sorry. It really needs an employment law specialist. Try ACAS - you'll get your local number from https://www.acas.org.uk or CAB sometimes have employment specialists.
The fact the company have recognised the error and paid you does suggest that it should be backdated further. However, if I was asked to deal with this as an HR person, I'd seek advice myself.
Sorry I can't be more help0 -
Thank you so much for taking the time to help, I think this is one fight worth walking away from, but a lesson learnt all the same. Thanks again xxx0
