Sorry to hear you have been unwell Twinklestar - hope you are on the mend. Been MIA myself but due to pressures of work, not illness.

I wouldn't beat yourself up about the sofa - you sound like you are in better control of your finances, saving for something you need rather than sticking it on the credit card. I just end started small with the savings and it soon builds up and becomes slightly addictive.
