Do a search on the Internet for GUR sewing machines, they are in Birmingham, carry a lot of machines for next day delivery. You could do worse than phone Drummond Wools in Edinburgh. The chap there is very knowledgeable and again next day delivery.
I am not sure about sewing machines direct, have not had any dealings with them.0 -
thank you this place sewing machine superstore say they do a 15 year warranty too and seem reputable but i have heard alot of bad reviews about sewing machines direct and i am a bit scared of getting pulled into the same trap. i am now in two minds the first machine i like is janone new home 5000q and the other viking husqvarna 100q but i would like a seperate extension table with both of them can any body tell me more as i would like the 15 year warranty it looks so appealling the prices are £269.99 for the viking husqvarna 100q and £269.99 for the janome new home 1000q i would be be really grateful if anybody could tell more about this company too as i would like to buy from a good company or if sewig macines direct has got any better in reputation0

I ordered some items from sewing machines direct and waited weeks, finally getting my money back only by doing a chargeback. I would never buy from them again. I have ordered several times from GUR and always had good prompt service, so I too recommend them
Last machine I bought was a bernina sewing machine, two years ago and found the cheapest prices online but really wanted somewhere local for servicing etc. I rang a sewing machine company with a shop, 20 miles away and he quoted the same cheapest price and he also set it up and delivered it. Fab local service. Try it, online is not always cheapest
Last year I wanted a coverstitch machine and found another local company, 30 miles away. Yet again the service was excellent, as was the price
Oh I just saw that you went to gur, oh I am glad, they always went the extra mile to get me the bits I wanted0 -
Thank you for mentioning GUR I`ve just registered x0

I bought a machine from Sewing Machine Superstore and it supposedly came with a free gift of thread and scissors. The machine I sent off for had blue printing down the front describing all the stitches it was capable of doing. The machine was a Toyota 21 Lux. Not expensive but just the ticket for the kind of work I wanted to do. The machine that arrived was a Toyota but it was not a Lux and the stitching information was in orange and there was no sign of the free gift. I got in touch with the company to be told the machine was the same just a different colour and not to worry and the gift was on its way. That was at the end of September and I have written several times and called, but no gift. I would say they were unreliable as a company.0

I have been using GUR Sewing Machine Superstore for 26 years, have alway had excellent service from them.
Recently I treated myself to the Jaguar DQS 405 sewing machine and its been an absolute dream to use for my patchwork classes and around the home.
I had a Frister Rossmann machine which was bought for me as gift last year and had nothing but hassle, the machine kept on breaking down me and had it replied 4 times under warranty, it was useless.
I would recommend GUR Sewing Machines as they took my machine in part exchange and gave me £100 trade in ( I was lucky as it was a scrap machine in my opinion).......GUR help me with lessons on my new Jaguar sewing machine and loads of advice as normal,
I will not shop anywhere else
Thank You GUR Sewing0
