Help needed regards property maintainance company

Hi there,
First of all apologies as im not sure which thread/forum this particular issue belongs. Please move accordingly...
I have a property in the UK, which has a ground maintenance fees.
Problem is i live abroad at the moment and by the time the bi-annual statement comes to me, the window to pay has expired. Resulting in late payment charges, which, unsurprisingly amount to more than the initial fee itself (which i have paid - the fee, not late payment penalty). I've requested email statements so i can pay promptly but apparently its beyond their means.
I'd like some advice regarding the late payment fines i've got. At the moment they are threatening me with a CCJ if i dont pay.
Do i have any grounds to fight this, or should i just pay?
Regards & thanks for any advice,
GBF

Have you retained a UK bank account? Can you not set up a bi-annual direct debit for the ground rent/maintenance? You must know in which month these amounts will be due.0

Yes i do, they wont direct debit.
And yes i now email their finance department to get the amount due.
My qu is regards when i first moved abroad and wasnt aware of these problems. Fines are quite old now.0
