  • OP do check any details you receive direct with the lender, with the best intentions in the world.. anyone can PM bank details that could cause you more hassle in the long run

I realise you won't want to know this, but I can remember paying this lender safely covered by the Direct Debit scheme in 2011 - the bank I used was the Halifax and while I refused to provide the long card number of the associated card they stuck to what was agreed on a 4 month plan and I've had absolutely no comeback all these years later (and yep my bank account is still active today and I know of no reasons why they would be worse today then they were back in the day) ;)

Just things I've learn if you chose to pay independent, I'd factor in you'll need to possibly allow more time for processing

All of you....may look at a pre-paid card but why should I shell out a fee to buy it (& BTW passport expired so no valid id)-all I want is their bank details to pay them? Step Change have insisted they MUST give me this information. Frustrating.com!

Can you please ask StepChange what legal regulation/law or binding set of code of conduct or similar says that they MUST give you those details?

    Thanks

Fermi-sorry (& good morning!)-maybe my words are a bit strong-they've said on 3 occaisions there is no reason for them NOT to supply this information as I have accepted there was a problem (before the payment due date & I did inform them) & come up with a solution. Apologies for my 'miss-wording'...a bit 1/2 asleep this am.

I'm sure I saw a thread in the last few years where someone got QuickQuid/P2P to back down on this? Can't find it at the present though. :/ Perhaps I misremember.

Normally i would share your reluctance to share your new card details with a payday lender, especially if it were one of the "fly by night companies", but actually QQ are not that bad to deal with, they now have to adhere to new, stricter, guidelines than they did before.

Instead of concentrating on this issue of not giving you there bank details, have you actually come to an amicable agreement to repay your loan ?

If not, that should be your priority, not this side issue over bank details, when you have agreed a token payment with them, simply send a postal order, or a cheque, if you still have them, i have yet to find a company that will return payment of this nature, rather than accept it.

Hi & thanks Soucreates. DO not have a cheque book & the hassle of getting a postal order for a token payment is ridiculous. As Step Change has said-there is no reason why they can't give me bank info. Without going into too much info on a public forum my hours are reduced as I'm caring for my partner. I just need an easy way in the short term only to get payment to them!
