Buying expensive stuff on credit, before mortgage app

Hello, my other half wants to buy something now on a credit card, in advance of selling our house and having the profit to pay for it outright.

We already have two credit cards, a loan and a couple of other bits of credit, totalling about 12k, this would add another 2k to that total.

All of this will be paid off when the house sells (sale already agreed), but do you think its a bad idea in terms of getting a mortgage?

I've got a couple of agreements in principle already but will possibly go with our existing provider on a different product. This will mean a fresh application with them.

Do you think this is a bad idea? Thanks in advance :)

I wouldn't take out any more credit if you're planning on applying for a mortgage. When it comes to your credit rating Every little hurts :o
