What is this? I've never been to one before.
Should I take lots of pennies and a bag for samples/goodies or is this just a ploy to get people through the door after the 70% sale?

I only go to my local store "events" if i've literally got nothing else to do. It varies store to store - in ours theres typically free makeovers at the make-up counters, and usually a lucky dip/raffle (but you have to buy something first and then you get to use your receipt for the lucky dip).
Its a bit pants really.0 -
As said pants. Its all about getting the extra points on your card, but you have to spend a certain amount. The counters want you to buy from them, that is it.0

Never seen any samples given out to be fair - sometimes there will be drinks available.
If you need some premium products, might worth going as they add 500 points above a certain amount i think.
Otherwise it is mostly to get you through doors! They had 2 of them before Christmas.ally.0 -
I went in at lunchtime and, apart from a few posters they've put up, you wouldn't know there was anything going on. The woman who served me didn't even bother telling me that I'd get 500 bonus points if I bought something else.0

They have definitely got less generous over the years. The first couple of years they did this I went and it was well worth it. There were lots of prize draws, mince pies, offers and the beauty counter girls were filling your bag with samples. I went to the recent one in my local store and they had tiny thimbles of drinks, the prize draw was all kiddy prizes (odd for an event so focused on beauty and gifts for adults) and there were no samples.0
