New Facebook winners group

Is it mainly the L&S comp winners that get posted in these groups? I never enter L&S comps on Facebook, tend to only enter those which use an App and the very rare Comment competitions. I would have thought companies that use the Apps would be more inclined to contact the winner directly rather than just announce it. Am I wrong in thinking this?
I wonder if it’s worth joining if I never do L&S? That being said, there’s no harm in joining anyway I suppose

I discount doing L/S when they are flagged up. I have entered some comps only to find a need to share after I have put some effort in so have shared reluctantly. I have not done this for a long time and any wins I have had on Facebook have not been shared by me.

I've only won once on FB (that I know of), that was via an app ... The winners were announced on Facebook, but I actually received the item (was aftershave from Debenhams beauty club) before I saw the post in the then FB Winners forum on here that I had won.

Maybe something to take up with the admins? As a group runner myself, I can't say I blame them. I often reject people from mine if their profiles are blank, a very new profile with lots of groups added, profiles with pics of women when they clearly say "changed HIS picture", or those I believe are not compers.

Just inform those that are getting declined to join to message one of the admin. I'm sure they will help.

As for it being a closed group, I think it's better. You don't get those nasty jealous people going back to the companies saying "So-and-so who won that is actually a comper and didn't really want it, blah, blah, blah." Same reason my group is a closed one.

I don't have 800 friends, yet I have found out about wins by being tagged by people who aren't my friends in the closed groups (and in winner announcement posts) when I've won.

As long as your settings allow anyone to tag you there isn't an issue.

There's a glimmer of hope on the MSE FB winners thread from MSE Megan who said:

'We've been reading through this thread and this is something we're going to look into. I'm going to have a word with our Legal team next week and see if we can keep these types of threads up in the future. We always want to make sure we're protecting your details so that's obviously the priority here, but we love the idea of this thread - it's nice to see you all helping each other to win!
