Help with mortgage advise with bad credit

Hi all

I am looking for some mortgage advice. Me and my husband and are looking to get a mortgage on a house that is £145,000. We are currently in rented accommodation and have been for the past 5 years.

We have both been in our permanent jobs for 5 years +, we earn a combined income of £53,000 and have saved a 10% deposit.

The problem is I have a ccj that is 4 years old for £200 to Yorkshire water and it shows on my credit file that it was satisfied 2 months after the ccj was issued. My credit score is 960 with experian ( not checked any other credit reports ) and I have never missed a payment or had anything else bad on my report since. My husbands credit file is at 967 and he has no defaults or ccjs or missed payments.

My question is would we be able to get a joint mortgage or would we be better off if he applied for one as a single applicant ?

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Yes, you have the possibility of a joint mortgage but should engage a mortgage broker.

  • Thanks for the advice. Please can you advise how I can find a good and experienced mortgage broker as by reading some posts it appears that there are some brokers that don't seem to give the best advice.
