The mod have paid 2225 miles at 25p, but i'd like to claim the difference unto the 45p rate and the missing mileage. It's a total of £1501.20 rather than the £556.25 he's been paid. Just wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction on where to put the claim in the self !!! online form please?
Many thanks

In the employment section - expenses claim. It should be relatively easy to find. Either report the amount received as income and then claim the full 45p a mile, or just claim the difference. It's probably best to explain how calculated in the white space note at the end of that section.'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).

Remember also he won't get the money made up to £1501, he'll get tax relief on the difference.0

HMRC prefer that you claim the difference - the number of people who add the 45p rate to their P60 figure is extraordinary.

I am in the same situation. I am going round in circles. I have completed the online self assessment and gone to calculation to which it shows I owe ??? child benefit which I know about.
I don't understand where I put the figures for mileage tax relief.
10,000 miles at 45 pence a mile £4,500
6,062 miles at 25 pence a mile £1,515.50
Total £6015
Paid £2409.30 by employer making a difference of £3606. Paying tax at 40% am I right to say that the figure should be approx. £1442 that we are claiming.
But I still don't know where to put it on the return........arrrggghhh !!Born and bred in Manchester (proud of it)
